Ibanez UEW15E-OPN UEW Series Acoustic Electric Ukulele, Open Pore Natural

The UEW15E features a concert style EW body with a soft Florentine cutaway and a laminated flamed mahogany top on flamed mahogany back and sides with an open pore finish. The round soundhole has a maple rosette. It has a mahogany neck with a 19-fret rosewood fingerboard with maple dot position markers. Components include an ivory plastic saddle in a rosewood bridge, a plastic nut and chrome Grover open gear tuning machines. Electronics consist of an Ibanez under saddle pickup feeding a UK-300T preamp with onboard tuner powered by a pair of 2032 coin cells, and a ¼” endpin output jack. For 2018 the top, back and sides were changed to flamed African mahogany, the rosewood fretboard and bridge were changed to purpleheart or treated New Zealand pine and ovangkol and the UK-300T preamp was replaced with the AEQ2U preamp. For 2019 the mahogany neck was replaced with okoume and the fretboard and bridge were standardized as purpleheart.

Brand

Ibanez

Ibanez is one of the first Japanese musical instrument companies to gain a significant foothold in import guitar sales in the United States and Europe, as well as the first brand of guitars to mass-produce the seven-string guitar and eight-string guitar. The company has an impressive lineup of products ranging from instruments to pedals and accessories, and have recently raised standards and eyebrows with the new AZ Series, which Josh Smith described as the best superstrat he’s played in a long time.
